Rise and Run 5k

Rise and Run 5K is Conway United Methodist Church’s first 5K walk/run.

The net proceeds from the event will benefit three charities and support our youth group. The charities include:

Stop Hunger Now: Stop Hunger Now works to end world hunger. This program sends packaged meals to countries that are in need of food, and for every $0.29 donated, you can package one meal. Conway United Methodist Church hosts Stop Hunger Now by raising money and gathering our congregation together to help package these meals that will be sent out. Some of the money that we are raising will be put towards hosting another Stop Hunger Now event at our church.

Nigeria School Project: Conway UMC’s youth group met a Pastor from Nigeria at a mission training camp called Servants in Faith and Technology. Pastor Pam has recently opened up a school in Nigeria on September 14, 2015 and is need of materials to educate their students. We will also be donating toys and other fun items to excite the kids to be there.

Reach Up: Reach Up is an after school program that we host at Conway UMC for middle school students at Conway Middle School that are failing. We have high school and college students that tutor the middle schoolers in order to pass the grade that they’re in. We also send them home with a “weekend bag” full of food to ensure that they have meals each day.

Conway UMC Youth Group: All of the additional funds will be going into Conway United Methodist Church’s youth group to help fund Christian Retreats and materials the youth will need to learn more about the Lord and grow deeper in their faith.
